The town of Kaštela stretches along the coast of Kaštela bay between Split and Trogir for over 17 km and is currently a place of residence for over 40 000 people.
The town rose as a union of 7 ancient and medieval settlements (Kaštel Štafilić, Kaštel Novi, Kaštel Stari, Kaštel Lukšić, Kaštel Kambelovac, Kaštel Gomilica and Kaštel Sućurac), each with its own castle that once defended the coastline.
While the eastern part of the town is commercial, the western part is a paradise for tourists offering well-kept pebble and sandy beaches, botanic gardens, museums, tennis and football courts, various sea activities and boat excursions.
By contrast with bustling Split, Kaštela is a peaceful suburban town with beautiful nature and clean warm sea – a perfect place for relaxation and recharging. Prices in konobas (traditional Dalmatian restaurants) are more affordable than in the metropolis, and the food is delicious!
Kaštela is home for a traditional carnival in February and for Kaštela Cultural Summer in July – August, including music contests, exhibitions, theatre performances, sport competitions, and food festivals.
